Fire Investigation

Fire Safety Experts

Many businesses that have experienced a fire situation require an independent investigation for insurance purposes, business continuity or to identify gaps in their fire safety policies, procedures and management controls.

As ex-fire authority fire and explosion investigators our team has extensive experience of investigating almost every type of fire, whether the cause is accidental, criminal or negligence.

The team are familiar with the methodologies required to carry out a comprehensive investigation. We have experience of multi-agency working and will liaise with the local authority and insurance investigatory teams on behalf of our clients.

During our investigation we:
  • aim to ascertain the origin of the fire including the ignition source(s)
  • aim to identify reasons for the development and spread of the fire
  • produce witness statements
  • provide detailed evidence of any field tests we undertake

Our reports provide underlying evidence that could be useful when reviewing fire risk management and in preventing a potential reoccurrence. It is essential that all relevant fire safety documentation is reviewed and updated following a fire incident.

We have been asked to carry out investigation by clients looking for an early indication of the cause of a fire. Clients’ find a preliminary report helpful to:

  • identify if a more in-depth investigation is actually required
  • identify if the services of an expert witness is required
  • allow a swift return to business as usual

Our focus is on the evidence and facts and we remain impartial throughout the investigation. We understand the potential sensitivities and confidentiality that surround the nature of this work.
